This Week’s Program

Commissioner Lloyd Fields

O

ur speaker today is Lloyd L. Fields, Commissioner of Labor for the State of Oklahoma. Born in Pawhuska on Sept. 10, 1957, Lloyd attended school in Ralston and later graduated high school from Sand Springs in 1975. He married Mary Ann (Riddle) in 1982 and moved to Arpelar, just west of McAlester. They have three children: Amanda, Tabitha, and Kylie, and a granddaughter, Elizabeth. Lloyd and Mary Ann currently reside in Norman, Oklahoma.

Lloyd, a certified plumbing and air conditioning contractor and rancher, served in the Oklahoma House of Representatives from 1992-2002. As a legislator representing House District 18, he chaired the Commerce, Industry, and Labor Committee.

Lloyd believes the primary mission of the Oklahoma Department of Labor is to be fair to all Oklahomans while serving the state as the primary resource for employers and employees dealing with health, safety, licensing, and wage and hour issues. Increasing economic development and encouraging businesses to come to Oklahoma will be important parts of the Fields administration, along with providing health insurance to every worker, lowering worker’s comp costs, and strengthening the current “Farm Safety Children” program.

His hobbies include hunting, fishing, and golf. He maintains memberships in the Elk Lodge #533, Scottish Rite McAlester, and Bedouin Muskogee. You can always find him volunteering and serving his homemade spaghetti sauce at the annual Italian Festival in McAlester, a community event Lloyd is honored to be a part of, along with the Red Cross and the Fourth of July Celebration.

Lloyd, thank you for being with us today. The Rotary Club of Southside Tulsa welcomes you.

Southsider Quick Notes

Last week…
- Last week our ROD was Kevin Best and our speaker was Rev. Judy Gann.

- Happy Birthday and Happy Anniversary to Ben Gorrell and Bob Brooks!

- We had a new member inducted last week! Everybody be sure to welcome Cindy Llewellyn, whose classification is printing.

- Jon Cox gave a classification talk about his new business, Aqua Vita.

- Dues are due! Give checks, cash, or first-born children to Tom Sawyer.

- David Dopp and Don den Daas, as of this writing, have not delivered their dictionaries. Fines shall be swift and merciless.

- We need chairpeople for the Hunter Park Biscuit Acres Bark Park fundraisers. Start thinking about volunteering! Remember: you don’t have to do everything yourself. You can shanghai other club members into helping you. In fact, shanghaiing is encouraged.

- One of the fundraisers for Biscuit Acres will be a dinner at Ti Amo’s.

- And speaking of our newest project, next week will be a breakout meeting to go to Hunter Park and see the area that will become Biscuit Acres! (Weather permitting, of course.)
