This Week’s Program
Lloyd Fields
oday’s speaker is Lloyd Fields. Fields, a Democrat from Arpelar, was elected State Labor Commissioner on November 7, 2006. Born in Pawhuska on September 10, 1957, Lloyd attended school in Ralston and later graduated high school from Sand Springs in 1975. He married Mary Ann (Riddle) in 1982 and moved to Arpelar, just west of McAlester. They have three children, Amanda, Tabitha, and Kylie, and one granddaughter, Elizabeth. Lloyd and Mary Ann currently reside in Norman, Oklahoma.
Fields, a certified plumbing and air conditioning contractor and rancher, served in the Oklahoma House of Representatives from 1992-2002. As a legislator representing House District 18, he chaired the Commerce, Industry, and Labor Committee.
Commissioner Fields believes the primary mission of the Oklahoma Department of Labor is to be fair to all Oklahomans while serving the state as the primary resource for employers and employees dealing with health, safety, licensing, and wage and hour issues. Increasing economic development and encouraging businesses to locate or relocate to Oklahoma will be key aspects in the Fields administration, along with providing health insurance to every worker, lowering workers comp costs, and strengthening the current “Farm Safety Children” program.
His hobbies include hunting, fishing, and golf. He maintains memberships in the Elk Lodge #533, Scottish Rite McAlester, and Bedouin Muskogee. You can always find Commissioner Fields volunteering and serving his homemade spaghetti sauce at the annual Italian Festival in McAlester, a community event Fields is honored to be a part of, along with the Red Cross and the Fourth of July Celebration.
Lloyd, thank you for joining us today. Tulsa Southside Rotary welcomes you!
