ur Rotarian of the Day today is Larry Boyer. Larry was inducted into Southside on February 2, 1992, and has had perfect attendance since his induction. He has served Southside at numerous positions and offices on the board. He is an R.I. Benefactor and a Paul Harris fellow. Larry is also one of many active Past-Presidents of Southside Rotary.

Larry is a native Tulsan. He is an alumnus of Osage Elementary, Roosevelt Jr. High, Tulsa Central High, and Tulsa University.

Larry is very proud to be a member of Southside Rotary and is awed by all that it has done over the first 50 years. His hope and trust is that it will continue to be one of the very best clubs in District 6110.

Larry has been married to his wife Kathy for 41 years. They have a married son, a married daughter, and three grandchildren. Larry enjoys golf, fishing, and taking Kathy to spoil the grandchildren.

This Week’s Program

Elden Hoffman

oday’s speaker is Elden Hoffman. Elden is a captain for Southwest Airlines, and a retired Air National Guard fighter pilot. He is an OU graduate and an avid OU football fan.

He is married to Carol and they have a son, a daughter and a son-in-law. They have one grandchild and another on the way.

Elden will be speaking with us today about commercial air travel from a pilot’s perspective, and he might even talk about what it’s like to fly an F-16.

- Our ROD was Donna Petty, and our speaker was Ed Hardesty

- If you didn’t make it to Scotch & Cigar Night, you really missed out. We had a really great time! The owner of Fogue & Bates, a local cigar shop, was there to discuss some of the cigars that we brought, and Ben Estes made his famous brisket.

- Last Sunday was Volunteer Appreciation Night for Biscuit Acres at Ti Amo’s, and they presented Southside with an autographed newspaper cartoon and pictures of Biscuit Acres throughout the past month.

- The 2009 Will Rogers Gala will be Sunday, Nov. 8, starting at 5:30 p.m. at Cain’s Ballroom. The recipient of the Will Rogers Spirit Award for this year is Vince Gill. Individual tickets are $125 apiece.

- The annual Rotary Anns fundraiser will be 11/5 at Freddie’s on Sapulpa Rd. The cost is $25. Talk to Dolly Dixon for more information.
- It’s time to pay your dues! Tracy has emailed statements to everybody. Get your money in!

- Dictionaries are here! Get your lists, get your labels, and pick up your books! It’s time to start delivering.

- At the District Conference, Don den Daas was presented with a Presidential Citation from the district. Hooray, Don!
