Rotarian of the Day
Bill Ward

Bill Ward

O

ur “Rotarian of the Day” today is Bill Ward. He was born in Adair County, Oklahoma on July 9, 1929. He is a graduate of Will Rogers High School in Tulsa (1947) and the Oklahoma School of Accountancy.

Bill served in the Oklahoma National Guard from 1948-1950, the U.S. Army from 1950-1952 in Korea, and the U.S. Army Reserve from 1952-1981. He retired in 1991 as president of Logan Smith Plumbing Company after 25 years in business, saying that he was “tired.”

He was inducted into our club on February 3, 1977 and was proposed by Jerry Ramey.

Bill has two children: Bill Jr. (1956) and Susan (1959). Both Bill Jr. and Susan are graduates of the University of Tulsa. His spare time is expended in hunting and fishing activities.

Bill was a former “Officer of the Day” for our club. Southside gave him this honorary title when he served our club as attendance chairman. Considering his military experience, he performed his duties in this role very well. He was also vocational service director from 1979-1980, secretary from 1980-1981, Southside Foundation Trustee from 1991-1996 and served as president of the Foundation from 1995-1996.

Bill also served as R.I. Foundation Chairman for our club. Bill is a Southside Star, a Rotary Benefactor, Member of the Bequest Society, Multiple Paul Harris Fellow and a Major Donor (Level 2) in The Rotary International Foundation.

Bill, thank you for arranging today’s program. We appreciate it!
