Rotarian of the Day
Tom Wilson

Tom Wilson
Our Rotarian of the Day today is Tom Wilson. Tom was born April 15, 1941 in Ottumwa, Iowa, and graduated from SMU in 1964 with a BS in mechanical engineering. Tom’s lived in 10 different states, but he’s been settled in Tulsa since 1968.

Tom spent 22 years as a manufacturer’s rep, selling castings and forgings. He retired in 2003.

In addition to Southside, Tom is a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church and the Oaks Country Club. He’s also very active with the Bushenyi Alliance for Rural Health and Development (BARHD).

Tom is married to Laura, and they have four kids and five grandkids. His hobbies include golf, jogging, fishing (at least once every 5 years), and travel.

Corey Williams
Our speaker today is Corey Williams with Sustainable Tulsa. Corey was raised in Tulsa and graduated from Booker T. Washington. She is a 1994 graduate of Humboldt University in Northern California with a degree in Natural Resources.

Her work experience includes Tulsa Community Food Bank, Metropolitan Environmental Trust, Tulsa County Conservation District, Millennium Center and Sustainable Tulsa.

Corey founded Sustainable Tulsa in 2002 and became Executive Director in 2006. Significant accomplishments include the Tulsa Area GREEN Directory, Eat Local Bite of Tulsa, and this past year the Greening the (918) educational seminar series.

Sustainable Tulsa and Kanbar Properties are co-founding sponsor of the Collaboratorium, which is an entrepreneurial incubator for new businesses.

Corey is married to Skee Raskin and they are the proud parents of daughters Sophie, 6 and Lily, 9. Corey enjoys hiking, gardening, and coaching girls’ soccer.

Last week…
- Our ROD was Ben Estes, and our speaker was Chuck Lamson with the Tulsa Drillers.

- We’ll be doing Salvation Army bell ringing on Friday, December 11. At last count, Keith said there were three slots left: 10, 11, and noon. Shoot him an email if you can take one of them, or sign up at the meeting.

- Our Christmas party is this Sunday, Dec. 13, at the Bistro at 101st & Yale from 4 p.m.-6 p.m. Price is $25 per person. If you are coming, don’t forget to sign up. And remember to bring a guest!

- John Benjamin had an update on Biscuit Acres. It’s closed for the installation of the irrigation system, and the shade sails are in the ground.

- Madeline and Grant from the Jenks High School debate team were here to see if anybody wanted to be a judge. They’re hosting a huge debate tournament on January 8-9. If you want to judge or want more information, you can call Grant at 402-5694.

- We are donating $1,000 to Goodwill for needy families at Springdale Elementary. They will match our donation, and we’ll be handing out $100 Goodwill gift certificates.

- Speaking of Springdale, we’ll be doing our annual Christmas bags for the kids. Bag stuffing is at 11:30 on Friday, Dec. 18.

- Remember to deliver your dictionaries. Fines will be starting soon, so get in touch with your schools!

- Sports Report! How did Bob and our teams do overall this year?

Bob’s picks for the year: 41-7.
Bob also picked Union to beat Jenks in the state high school football championship, and sure enough, they did, 52-19.
