Southsider Quick Notes
Last week…
- Our ROD last week was Larry Gilbert, and our speaker was Cory Nickerson for Polio Plus.
- Tom Wenrick gave a classification talk about automatic home generators.
- Jerry Ramey got the editors of the Rotarian to make part of the magazine a comic book. Check it out!
- Bob Hinton had a brief update about Biscuit Acres: we’re still looking for a chairman for the Black Tie Bolo.
- Remember, guest meals are $12.
- Don says that they’re going to start emailing invoices, so we’ll finally know how much we owe when.
- Don also has applications for district governor nominations. If you know somebody who would make a great district governor, sign them up!
- Those who committed to give to RI last week need to make their checks out to the Southside Rotary Foundation. The Foundation will write one large check to RI. Remember to designate it for RI and polio eradication.
- We had a great time out at Hunter Park on Saturday! Jessica did a fantastic job getting all the news stations and the Tulsa World out there, and there were plenty of Rotarians with dogs in tow to enjoy the nice weather.
- Also, we had a dog park meeting Monday night at Ti Amo. Here are some of the things that we covered:
- - There are four main expenses with the dog park: the opening ceremony in May, the dinner in March, the boxes that we’re putting in pet supply places and vet offices, and, of course, the park itself.
- - Of the $50,000 we’re raising, we have $5,000 already pledged or in-house.
- - We have a proposal in with Wal-Mart, and we’ll know by March 1 where we stand there.
- - We also discussed benches, trash cans, and memorial fire hydrants.
- - Remember, if you have any ideas or would like to help out in any way, let Don or John Benjamin know!
- Next week, our speaker will be Christina Maxwell of the Tulsa Opera!
