This Week’s Program
Mike Terry
Our speaker today is Mike Terry. A native of Oklahoma and son of a petroleum geologist, Mike was raised in the historic Seminole oilfields. He graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a degree in business in 1974.
Upon graduation, Mike entered the business world at one of Oklahoma City’s largest banks. He resigned the bank as a commercial lending officer in 1980 to join the family oil business in Ada. There Mike co-owned and managed a successful oilfield service company called C.F.I. and began purchasing oil and gas properties in 1984.
After selling the service business in 1992, Mike was appointed as Executive Director of the Oklahoma Commission on Marginal Wells at Sarkey’s Energy Center in Norman. In 1994, Mike was hired as the first Executive Director of the newly formed Oklahoma Energy Resources Board where he managed the nation’s first oil and gas check-off program. Mike has also been successful in spearheading efforts to create similar energy education programs in Ohio, Illinois, North Dakota and Kansas.
In March 2006, Mike accepted a position as Executive Vice President of Diamondback Energy Services in Oklahoma City with responsibilities in operations, marketing and sales.
Mike was named President of the Oklahoma Independent Petroleum Association (OIPA), one of the nation’s largest oil and gas associations representing the interests of more than 2000 members, in February 2007.
Mike serves on the board of the Domestic Energy Petroleum Alliance and Interstate Oil & Gas Compact Commission’s (IOGCC) Public Outreach Committee. He is a member of the governing board of the Jasmine Moran Children’s Museum, Oklahoma History Museum, and Children’s Miracle Network Council.
Mike lives in Edmond and is married to Patty and has two daughters and a granddaughter.
