
Our Rotarian of the Day today is Billy Ward. Billy was born in Adair County, Oklahoma on a farm in July 1929. He moved to Tulsa in grade school and has been here ever since, graduating from Will Rogers High School. He got an associate bachelor’s of commercial science in accounting from the Oklahoma School of Accountancy.
Billy is also a graduate of the Army Command and General Staff College, and he was a lieutenant colonel in the Army, and he retired in 1981. While in the Army, he was a Master Marksman and earned the Distinguished Marksmanship Award and the President’s Hundred Award.
After the Army, he was president of Logan-Smith Plumbing Company, and he retired in 1990 and left the company in his son’s hands.
Billy joined Rotary on January 3, 1977, and he was proposed by Jerry Ramey. He’s held numerous offices, including Vocational Service Director 79-80, Secretary 80-81, Southside Foundation Trustee 91-95, and President 95-96.
He’s an RI Foundation Benefactor, a Major Donor – Second Level, and a member of the RI Bequest Society.
Billy has two children, Billy Jr. and Susan Whitley, three grandchildren, and one great-grandson. He likes to hunt, fish, and garden, and he loves nature as well. He said that he likes girls, too.

Martha Schultz
Our speaker today is Martha Schultz, a planner with the City of Tulsa planning department. She was born in Texas and raised in Tulsa, graduating from Bishop Kelly. She has a B.S. in mathematics and a master’s in regional and city planning from the University of Oklahoma. She has an associate’s of applied science in data processing coursework.
She lived in San Diego for 17 years, and retired in 2001 and returned to Tulsa with her husband. She came to work for the City of Tulsa in 2006.
Martha does the current zoning and subdivisions for St. Louis County, Missouri, and has done regional planning for central Oklahoma. She is the project lead with one other planner for Plan I Tulsa.

- Want to help out at Biscuit Acres? It’s as easy as bringing plastic Wal-Mart bags and stuffing the tubes. John Benjamin has done a lot for Biscuit Acres, so let’s help out!
- Be Wise Immunize has been set for April 24, which is the last Saturday in April.
- Jessica Cox, our membership chair, has reminded everybody to bring guests! All you have to do is ask somebody to come to lunch.
