Clint and Kara Howard
ur speakers today are Clint and Kara Howard. Clint grew up in southeastern Oklahoma and graduated from Idabel High School. He has a bachelor’s degree in health & exercise science and a masters degree in exercise physiology, both from the University of Oklahoma. He is a certified personal trainer through National Strength & Conditioning Association and American College of Sports Medicine. He has been in the personal training industry for more than 10 years and has helped hundreds of people reach their fitness goals and change their lives.
Clint regularly attends local and national conferences, clinics, seminars, and workshops about health, fitness, and nutrition to stay on top of the latest research and continue his education. Clint co-authored his first health and fitness book in 2007 and has plans of writing another.
Clint’s aspiration to help people become more physically fit and improve their overall lifestyle has led him to open his own personal training facilities. Clint is very proud to have recently been recognized as one of the top personal training studio owners in the country and a superstar in the industry. He prides himself on educating people so they are able to live a healthy lifestyle and look and feel better for the rest of their lives. Clint enjoys working out, hunting, fishing, reading, and spending time with his family.
Kara was born and raised in Tulsa and graduated from Jenks High School. She also has her bachelor’s degree in health and exercise science from OU. She then went on to pharmacy school at the University of Oklahoma where she obtained her doctorate of pharmacy. She works part time at Sam’s Club as a registered pharmacist.
She specializes her practice in nutrition and preventive health. She works full time with Clint from home and at the studio and takes care of their daughter, Kinley, born in July 2007. Kara enjoys working out, shopping, watching movies, and playing with Kinley.
One thing you did not know about the Howards: They love to read the Hollywood gossip magazine on the weekend.
Clint and Kara, thank you for being with us today. The Rotary Club of Southside Tulsa welcomes you.
Southsider Quick Notes
Last week…
- Our ROD last week was Ken Williamson and our speaker was Scott Black of OK MOZART.
- A big welcome back to Dolly Dixon!
- We have our slate of new officers ready! (About time.)
- We have a potential member up for induction: Tim Douglas, classification Banking, proposed by John Slater. Speak now or forever hold your peace.
- Remember, dues are due.
- We had a classification talk from David Dopp, who is an undertaker.
- Here’s the weekly update on Biscuit Acres:
- - We need to match the funds that Randy has committed (see below). Pledge, network, whatever you need to do. Get donations from outside the club.
- - Those who contribute $125 or more will get a dog biscuit plaque. You can also sign up to sponsor benches and picnic tables.
- - The Jenks 9th graders have chosen the dog park as their 9th grade class project, so they will also be fundraising to help us out.
- - Randy Sullivan has committed up to $5,000 to Biscuit Acres for a challenge contribution to all members of Southside to COLLECTIVELY match his $5,000. Member contributions can be in the form of a pledge to the Southside Rotary Foundation and given to the Foundation over a period of months. $100 per person will get us there. Of course, a higher contribution will help those members who cannot do the $100. Members are encouraged to use the pledge form to receive commitments and contributions of all sizes from as many non-Rotarians as possible. Thank you, Randy, for this wonderful opportunity.
- - Remember, if you have any ideas or would like to help out in any way, let Don or John Benjamin know!
- Next week, our speaker will be David Dyson, Ph.D., talking about micro-banking in South America.
