Our Rotarian of the Day today is Keith James. Keith was born December 29, 1954, in Memphis, Tennessee. He graduated from Glendale High School in Springfield, Missouri, in 1971 and went on to Southwest Missouri State University, where he graduated in 1974. He is president of Business Computer Center.
Keith was proposed by Ben Gorrell and joined Southside on February 18, 1993. He loves to travel and to collect coins, and he is a Paul Harris Fellow and Benefactor. Keith is serving our club this year as president, and that makes him a brave man.
Keith, thank you for arranging today’s program.
This Week’s Program
Club Assembly
Today, we’re having a club assembly.
Southsider Quick Notes
Last week…
- Our ROD last week was Cindy Llewellyn and our speaker was Gary Sheely.
- Be Wise Immunize is April 24. Don’t forget to volunteer! There’s a morning session and an afternoon session on Saturday, or you can show up Friday night (April 23) at 5 p.m. to help set up. It’s at Christview Christian Church, which is at 25th and Garnett.
- The Henry Bellmon Awards will be held September 16 at the Mayo Hotel. If we sell all the corporate tables that we want, then only 100 individual tickets will remain (again, at $125 apiece). Make your reservations now!
- Brian Huddleston is now the one who takes your checks for the RI Foundation.
- If you want to pick up some Topeca coffee for the fundraiser, see Josh Butts. We’re supposed to buy or sell 20 bags apiece.
- Springdale needs school monitors for testing April 19-22. If you’re interested, call 746-9380 and talk to Dana.
- The district assembly is coming up on Saturday, May 1. It will be in Bentonville, Arkansas, and the cost is $25. You can register online at the district website, ri6110.org.
- Monthly statements have gone out, and quarterly dues are due now!
- We’ll be having another Fireside Chat on May 18. Place and time to be announced later.
- We inducted a new member last week: Sean Kouplen. Welcome to Southside, Sean!
- The board also approved taking 225 kids from Springdale Elementary to a baseball game on May 5! That will be our meeting that week, so sign up to go! It’s a 10 a.m. game, so we should have the kids back at school around 2 p.m. It will cost around $2,000 for the whole thing, so if you could donate some money, we’d really appreciate it!
- Be sure to check the Upcoming Programs for our speaker list through the Change of Horses (June 2010). Information on it is subject to change, but we’ll do our best to keep it updated!
- Next week, our speaker will be Steve Swetoha, president of the Tulsa Shock.
