Today’s Program
Carol Zanin Exchange Student from Brazil
Our guest speaker today is a Rotary Exchange Student from Mirassol, Brazil. Mirassol is 450 miles from San Paulo and 15 minutes from Sao Jose do Rio Preto. Carol speaks Portuguese, English and Spanish. At home she was in the top 5% of her class and currently attends Jenks High School. Her hobbies include tennis, guitar and “Peteca.” If you don’t know what that is come to the meeting and Carol will explain. Book reading, especially Harry Potter and shopping are also on her list of favorite things to do.
In her biography Carol lists her family as the most important thing in her life. Carol’s father owns a plastics recycling company and her mother is a pediatric Dentist. Carol also has an older sister named Ana.
The topic of Carol’s speech is Rotary Youth Exchange. Please attend the meeting and give a warm Southside welcome to Carol Zanin.
Southside Quick Notes
• If you missed last weeks meeting you missed a good presentation by Kathy Selbert about “Be Wise Immunize.”
• Billy Ward reported that so far less than ½ of our members have donated their $ 100 to the RI Foundation. Please do so by June 10th so we can get credit.
• We inducted three new members last week. With the addition of the three women listed below, our club doubled its female membership and our average age may even be in the 50- 60 range. You may remember that two years ago it was 62.5. Please make it a point to welcome our new members, listed below:

• Please note members that requests for funds at weekly meetings must have Board approval before the request is made.
• Keep in mind also that Rotary is a service organization not a leads group. Please do not use the club roster to send literature or e-mails promoting your business. If you want to get leads and pick up business, get involved with fellowship activities. That is a good time to let fellow members know what products and services you have.
• Have you signed up for our fund raiser? If you haven’t signed up already, hurry up! It’s coming up on May 10th, and we need your orders by May 8th. Remember 2 tickets are $137.50 and 4 tickets are $200.
Want to sign-up online? Click here and submit your name, e-mail address, phone number, number of guests, and whether you’d like steak or lobster. Help is also needed for the setup and the cleanup. Your participation not only helps the club, it is a great way to get to know your fellow Rotarians.
