Southsider Quick Notes

Last week…
- Our ROD last week was Randy Sullivan and our speakers were Tim Colwell and Bob Lengacher.

- We had a fantastic turnout at the Biscuit Acres grand opening on Saturday. Thanks to all of the volunteers and donors who helped make it a reality, and a big thanks to John Benjamin for all of his hard work!

- Speaking of Biscuit Acres, there’s a volunteer meeting on Tuesday, June 16, at 7 p.m. at Hunter Park. We need 10 to 15 rotating volunteers from Southside who can work an hour each week or so, at least until the volunteer group gets organized. It’s not glamorous, but it’s a great opportunity to bring your dog to the park! Let John Benjamin know if you’re going to be there.

- The last board meeting for the year is Wednesday, June 17, at 5:30 p.m. at Leon’s. Both old and new board members are invited to attend.

- Remember, July 1 is the last time to pick up the boxes for Biscuit Acres donations.

- On June 20, we’re doing the Medical Supplies Network, and we need 8 volunteers.

- Our next district governor has a goal of 6,110 members in district 6110 in the year 2010. We’ve made 15 teams, each responsible for getting one new member, in order for our club to meet its membership goal. We want 75 members total.

- The Change of Horses is June 30, and we’ll be having a barbecue out at Stokely’s from 6:00 to 8:30 p.m. Alcohol will start at 6 p.m., and the barbecue will start at 6:45. Cost is $15/person, and we’ll have a cash bar. We’ll be skipping the June 25 meeting.

- We’re accepting nominations for the Roy Gardner Vocational Service Award and the Bill Crews Community Service Award. Remember, nominees do not have to be members of this club.

- Next week, Bob Winters is our ROD and our speaker will be Bob Renkes.
