Rotarian of the Day
Jessica Cox

Jessica Cox

O

ur “Rotarian of the Day” today is Jessica Cox. She was born in Denver, Colo., and has spent most of her life in the great state of Oklahoma. While attending high school in Tulsa, Jessica served as head of her Key Club, started a school paper, and wrote for the Tulsa World.

Jessica attended her father’s alma mater, the University of Oklahoma, as a National Merit Scholar. Believe it or not, she only attended one football game during her college years, much to the disbelief of her father and grandfather.

During her first summer back from college, Jessica met Jonathan Cox at his swing dance club. After three years of romance, friendship and many hours of travel between Norman and Tulsa, they vowed to share a life together.

They were married in the Kirkland Chapel, overlooking a winding river valley. That same week Jessica rushed back to OU to finish finals, graduate, and move from Norman to Tulsa.

A former writer for the Little Light House and Oklahomans for Patriotic Values, Jessica now coordinates online marketing and PR campaigns through Xeal Precision Marketing. Her interests include hiking, camping, gardening, reading, writing, and science. Jonathan proposed Jessica for membership and she became a member of Southside Rotary in April 2008.

Thank you, Jessica, for arranging today’s program.

This Week’s Program

Mike Murphy
Our speaker today is Mike Murphy. For the past 16 years, Mike has worked for the Tulsa Boys’ Home, where he is now the program director. Before becoming the program director, he worked in a number of positions at the Tulsa Boys’ Home, including program coordinator, recreation director, and lodge manager. He also served as a direct care worker, working directly with the boys in the lodge.

Before he came to the Tulsa Boys’ Home, Mike spent five years working for Connor and Winters Law Firm, who oversaw the liquidation of a stock brokerage firm.

He graduated from Southeastern Oklahoma State University with a degree in education and played four years of baseball in college. He loves watching sports and his hobbies include playing racquetball, tennis, and more recently, golf.

Mike, the Rotary Club of Southside Tulsa welcomes you today!
