This Week’s Program
Jan Skinner
ur speaker today is Jan Skinner. He is an Aqua Agent Volunteer for the Oklahoma Aquarium, now open on the Arkansas River in South Tulsa at Jenks. He oversees 100 volunteers working in many positions to facilitate the operation of the aquarium, which features marine life from around the world. He is currently serving as the Aquarium’s speaker coordinator, presenting programs to organizations throughout a wide area. Jan has been selected to serve as a member on the Oklahoma Aquarium Foundation Board of Directors.
Jan shares a strong commitment to increase the understanding and preservation of the oceans of the world, and to inform everyone of their importance in our everyday lives.
The Oklahoma Aquarium brings a unique learning and scientific experience to our community and area, as it takes visitors on “A Journey to the Sea.” This major cultural and family attraction adds to the quality of life in the area, and attracts over 500,000 visitors a year as it enters its sixth year of operation. It is the only oceanic aquarium located in the heartland of the country.
Jan and his wife, Bernie, joined the volunteer staff early in 2001 in its initial volunteer group, following a 38-year sales career with the Health Care Division of the 3M Company, working in Kansas, Oklahoma, and Hawaii.
Jan, thank you for being with us today. The Rotary Club of Southside Tulsa welcomes you!
