Southsider Quick Notes

Last week…
- The ROD last week was Lynn Fesperman, and the speaker was James Dunn. I believe it was one of the few times we wished a speaker had a lot more time to talk!

- The District 6110 meeting will be August 25-28 in Joplin. Talk to Don and Keith if you want to go.

- Keith also said that we’re going to start recognizing perfect attendance. So everybody, quit missing meetings!

- The Presidential Moment last week was Bob Brooks, who was Southside’s president in 1983-1984. They had 97 members that year. Bob wanted everybody to know that he really enjoys being here!

- Football season is back, and so is Bob Winters with a weekly sports report.

  • This year, TU is picked first for its conference, to possibly go undefeated. They play Arkansas on Nov. 1. Bob picks TU to go 10-2.
  • Arkansas is dead last in the SEC West. With new coach Bobby Petrino, Bob has them picked to go 5-7.
  • OSU is 4th in the Big XII South, and Bob has them picked to go 7-5 or 6-6 if they’re not 4-0 after non-conference play.
  • OU is ranked first in the Big XII South, and picked to be the Big XII champ and national champ. Bob disagrees, since OU’s defense is weak, and picks them to go 10-2 this year.

- And finally, we welcomed a new member last week: Donna Petty. Donna was a previous member of the Northside club, where she was also a past president. Donna, we’re lucky to have you!
