JA In A Day

Tuesday, October 18th, 2011

On October 12, four Southside Rotarians volunteered to help out with JA in a Day at Mark Twain Elementary School. A big thanks to President Donna, Jordan, Brett, and Steve Haas for volunteering for this project, and an equally big thanks to Jordan for setting up this vocational project!

Southside Rotarians at the Community Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma

Thursday, September 29th, 2011

On September X, 2011, Tulsa Southside Rotarians invaded the Community Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma. Our mission: To sort through cans. Lots, and lots of cans. I have never seen so many cans. We were joined in our efforts by a local chapter of the Boy Scouts of America.

The cool thing is, all of the food we sorted is being distributed to non-profit organizations devoted to feeding the hungry. And let me tell you, they are very talented at that. It turns out that the Food Bank distributes more than a MILLION pounds of food per month to those in need.

This was very rewarding work, and it was a ton of fun to see those kids running around gathering and sorting cans. Major kudos to the parents who are teaching their children to volunteer. Great job, guys.

A Letter From Uganda

Sunday, December 20th, 2009

We recently received this lovely letter from one of the girls our club is putting through school in Uganda.

This is what it makes it all worthwhile, guys and gals:

Read Karangira’s Letter.

One of our members, Tom Wilson, started the non-prof that does this. If you’d like to learn about BARHD, Tom’s organization, visit their website.
