JA In A Day
October 18th, 2011
On October 12, four Southside Rotarians volunteered to help out with JA in a Day at Mark Twain Elementary School. A big thanks to President Donna, Jordan, Brett, and Steve Haas for volunteering for this project, and an equally big thanks to Jordan for setting up this vocational project!

September Student of the Month
October 17th, 2011
Last month, we sponsored a Student of the Month from McLain High School. Juan Cooper was our very first Student of the Month, submitted for the honor by Ms. Norma McKnight.
Juan is an honor roll student, and has been an attendant in Mr. Titan for three years. He has received certificates in sports and leadership, as well as the Martin Luther King Commemoration Society, Inc. He has a current GPA of 2.9783.
In addition to being active in school sports, Juan is a Class of 2012 board member, a member of the student council, and a member of McLain’s National Honor Society. He’s a junior trustee and the drummer at his church, and works in the youth department of the Church of the Living God.
Juan joined us for lunch on September 30, where he was presented with his Student of the Month certificate by Keith James, who sponsored the September Students of the Month.

Pancakes for Pooches Nets $6k for Dog Park
October 14th, 2011
On Saturday, October 8, the Biscuit Acres Volunteers and Fire Station #32 hosted the second annual Pancakes for Pooches breakfast. Several Southside Rotarians showed up to help dish out pancakes and sausages from 6 a.m. – 12 p.m.
And when all was said and done, the fundraiser netted $6,000 for Biscuit Acres.

Friday Fun & Fellowship – Success!

We had our first Friday Fun & Fellowship on October 7, and it was a great success! Thank you so much to Jan and the fellowship committee for their hard work in putting this together.
Don’t forget, we have another event on October 21: our annual Scotch & Cigar night!
